She was born in Surry County to the late Frank and Nettie Wagner Norman. Violet attended Mt. Airy Public Schools where she enjoyed intramural sports.
She attended High Point Business School and earned her B. S. Degree. Violet was the Circulation Director at the High Point Public Library for 32 years. She was also a member of the Civitan Club for 35 years and served as president and was a member of the Hospital Gray Lady for 15 years.
A member of Green St. Baptist Church, she was a Sunday School Teacher, WMU Director and WMU President.
She is preceded in death by her son David E. Kelley and nine siblings.
Violet was married to the love of her life Roy Kelley for 71 years, who survives her of the home.
She is also survived by her son Edd Kelley and wife Anne of Trinity, and daughter Linda K. Carroll of Burlington, six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be at Green St. Baptist Church, on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at 2;00pm. Visitation will be at the church from 12;30 to 2;00pm.
