Loretta Jean (Bradshaw) Farley, 96, of Staunton, passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at the Blue Ridge Christian Home in Raphine. She was born on June 9, 1921 in Prince Edward County, a daughter of the late William Edward and Lorena Maude (Cheney) Bradshaw.
Along with her husband, she worked the family dairy farm. Crocheting, gardening and reading were a few of her favorite hobbies. Jean was employed by Baldwin’s Department Store in Farmville for several years, where she enjoyed her work as a buyer, department manager and bookkeeper. She was a member of Stuarts Draft Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Joseph Farley, Sr.; daughter, Nancy Cullom; and seven siblings.
Survivors include her son, W.J. Farley and wife, Annette of Staunton; grandchildren, Tim Farley, Angela Fernandez, Lisa Crouse, and Lori Cullom; four great grandchildren; three sisters, Phyllis Satterwhite, Flora Grant, and Audrey Larin; as well as a number of extended family members.
A funeral service will be conducted at the Stuarts Draft Baptist Church, 2517 Stuarts Draft Hwy, Stuarts Draft, on Monday, August 14, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. with The Rev. Dr. William Kopp officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
A graveside service will be conducted at Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery, 202 Pisgah Church Rd., Rice, on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jean’s memory to her church, Stuarts Draft Baptist Church.
