On March 1, 2018, the sun set for a committed, dedicated, and loving person.
Byron attended preschool and his formative years in Canoga Park, California. After his parents moved, he attended 1st - 5th grades of elementary school in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. The family returned to Northern California where Byron attended 6th grade at Sonoma Elementary in Modesto, California followed by La Loma Junior High School. Throughout elementary and junior high school, he was very active in Boy Scouts and won many badges and awards. He was a star Triple Jumper on the Modesto Thunderbolts Track and Field Team and won many metals including gold, silver, and bronze. Byron played basketball in the city's Junior League and went on to play point guard in high school where his team enjoyed great success.
Byron graduated from Central Catholic High School in Modesto, California in 1988. After graduating, he attended Kansas State University on both basketball and track & field scholarships. Byron transferred to the University of Nebraska his sophomore year as a member of their Track & Field team. There Byron became member of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. He enjoyed work, sports, and music. He loved and was very supportive to his family especially his little nieces Lauren and Sarah. Byron loved his friends and coworkers. As a Sales Manager at Spireon in Dallas,Texas, he was impactful in developing a strong sales team and enhancing other aspects of the company. He loved to be helpful and loved to be a success at whatever he engaged in.
He is survived by his mother, Octavia Williams Berry Cardoza, stepfather James Cardoza, brother Channing Berry, sister Sharon Hazel Weatherford, nieces Lauren and Sarah Berry, and sisters-in-law Samantha and Victoria. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and coworkers. He was loved very much by family and friends.
The family invites you to join in remembering and celebrating the life of Byron. Services will be held at Calvary Hill Funeral Home on Friday, March 9, 2018 starting with the visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Liturgy of the Word will start at 1:00 p.m. followed by the burial at Calvary Hill Cemetery.
