Married to Gene Kimpel November 7, 1959

Preceded in death by husband: Gene Kimpel (died 1989). Brothers: Cliff (and Katy) Bell, Bob and Helen Bell. Sisters: Berniece and Emmitt Brown, Irene Rager

Mary’s life was a rich mix of work and play. She was a member of the former Immanuel Baptist Church and more recently Wallen Baptist Church. Mary served as secretary/treasurer for Immanuel Christian School.

She worked for over 40 years at Hagerman Construction in Fort Wayne in bookkeeping and later embraced the challenge of becoming one of the only women in the field of Estimating.

She was a true example of a courageous woman and fearlessly pursued many interests. Mary was incredibly talented with sewing, quilting, cross-stitch, and a ton of other crafts. She loved numbers and was a great resource for wise financial counsel. In earlier years she enjoyed weekly volleyball games, volunteering at the Embassy, antiquing with Dad and the rowdy Card Club nights. She loved spending time at the lake, both Lake Gage and Little Long Lake. She took college classes and followed her interests in writing and photography. Later she pursued many dreams; becoming a Master Gardner, and taking up painting. She navigated the world (New Zealand, France, Israel, Australia, Canada, the Caribbean and much of the United States) and developed and maintained friends from all of her adventures.

She was a never ending source of support, devoting much of her time to her children and grandkids. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. She now walks with her Savior and is made whole again!

Funeral service will be 11am, Thursday, April 12, at Wallen Baptist Church, 1001 West Wallen Road, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Calling will also be held from 5 to 8pm, Wednesday, April 11, at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St Joe Road, Fort Wayne. Burial will be in Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne.
