Bernice Ida Marrs

Bernice Ida Cohrs Marrs passed away in Dallas, Texas on April 27, 2018, at the age of 95. She was born January 3, 1923, in Big Valley, Alberta, Canada to GermanAmerican parents Joachim and Caroline Cohrs. Bernice grew up in Norton, Kansas, then moved to Chicago Illinois where she met and married George Robbins Marrs in February 1950 and they were married for 49 years. They raised their three children in Houston, Texas where Bernice lived for sixty years. Bernice was a deeply religious person whose poetry expressed her faith and for which she has received recognition.

Bernice had two sons; James and David, and one daughter Rebecca. David and his wife Jody have two sons Travis and Austin. Travis and his wife Brittany have two sons, Archer and Theo. Austin and his wife Brooke have a daughter, Fannin and a son, Wesley. Rebecca and her husband Rodney have a son, Richard and a daughter, Rachel.

Bernice will be laid to rest at the Veterans National Cemetery in Houston, on Tuesday May 8th at 1 PM.
