James Fleming Metcalf Sr.

James F. Metcalf, Sr. 71, of Decatur passed away on May 2, 2018. His visitation will be Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Roselawn Funeral Home from 10 AM-Noon. The Celebration of Life will begin at noon at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Metcalf will be laid to rest at Roselawn Cemetery. James is survived by his two sons James F. Metcalf, Jr. and Michael Todd Metcalf; Daughter Wendy S. Hawkins. James has 4 granddaughters; Elania Metcalf, Madison Metcalf, Lexi Quinn and Abbie Hawkins; 2 grandsons Mason T. Hawkins and London Metcalf. He was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Georgie Metcalf. James was born Jan. 25, 1947 in New Port, RI. He attended Decatur High School, where he lettered in both football and baseball. He graduated in 1965 and immediately started to work at Chemstrand where he retired 40 years later. James never met a stranger and was loved by many. James loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a great man that was dearly loved and will be missed by many. Pallbearers will be James F. Metcalf, Jr., Michael Todd Metcalf, Mason T. Hawkins, Kevin Johnson, Riley Wilhite and Johnny Lerman.
