Joanne West, 97 of Indianapolis passed away on Sunday, May 27th, 2018. Joanne was born on April 27th, 1921 in Brazil, IN to George and Mary Gertrude (Sowar) Reifenberg. She graduated from the St. Agnes Academy in Indianapolis in 1938. She married the love of her life, John F. West on May 27th, 1950 and they were together for almost 46 years and were able to travel to China and Hawaii together. He preceded her in death on April 25th, 1996. Joanne was a member of the Christ the King Catholic Church in Indianapolis since 1973 and was an active member of the XYZ Senior group and the North Presbyterian Senior Group. Joanne enjoyed being a volunteer for the Red Cross, often driving those patients who were disabled to their doctor's appointments and for dialysis, and performed this volunteer work for over 15 years. She enjoyed her family, gardening and appreciated gifts of trees and bushes.
Joanne will be sadly missed by daughter Paula A. Shaw (David), son David F. West (Lisa), grandchildren Katherine Makielski (Peter), Deanna Wolfe (Shawn), John Shaw, Joseph West, Jeremiah West (Anne), Jennifer Modesto (Eliseo), Joshua West (fiancée Brooke), Jessica Ashmore (Brian), and great-grandchildren Kayleigh West and Savannah Wolfe.
Visitation services will be held on Friday, June 1st, 2018 at Feeney-Hornak Keystone Mortuary, 2126 E. 71st St in Indianapolis from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5884 N. Crittenden Ave in Indianapolis, with entombment to follow at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, 9001 N. Haverstick Rd in Indianapolis.
