Diane Edwards Semsey

Diane Edwards Semsey, 62, a former resident of Montgomery (and current resident of Alpharetta, GA), died on June 6, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Worney J Edwards and Ann Strickland Ward. Diane is survived by her husband of 41 years, James Martin Semsey; their daughter Jessica Marie Semsey and son Joshua Martin Semsey (Megan Pugh) and her grandsons Andrew Cain Johnson (Jessica) and William James Semsey (Joshua); her brother David Eugene Edwards (Donna), sister Darlene Herrick (David), brother in-laws David Richard Semsey (Novelle) and Scott Francis Semsey (May) and several nieces and nephews that she loved very much (Courtney Robin Semsey-Williams (David), Katy Semsey Vincent (Tony), Natalie Semsey, Steven Scott Semsey, Donald Robert Semsey, Rebecca Yada Semsey, Bobby Kyle Edwards, Abby Ann Edwards, Wilson Murray Herrick, William Bates Herrick and Ann Lucas Herrick).

She graduated from Sidney Lanier High School and received an Associate Degree from John Patterson Technical College after attending Auburn University at Montgomery. Diane was a homemaker and a frequent volunteer at her children’s and grandchildren’s schools and was always ready to help with whatever she needed to do.

Diane never met a stranger and many people from her husband to her children to their friends and grandchildren all felt as if they were her best friend. She made people feel comfortable and was always trying to make people’s lives better. She always supported her children and grandchildren in their activities and was a frequent visitor to many ballfields and baseball practices both in Montgomery and the Alpharetta, GA area. Diane was a great daughter, friend, wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin, and in-law. We will always miss her warm heart, helpful advice, great attitude and occasional beautiful smile.

Visitation will be held at Alabama Heritage on Monday, June 11, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., followed a graveside service in Alabama Heritage Cemetery.
