Janet Louise Hardigan

Janet Louise (Bader) Hardigan, age 85, died peacefully on June 19 surrounded by family. From her birth in 1932 to her death she nourished people around her with love, faith, and music. She was born in a small town of Carrollton, Michigan to Charles and Mary (Klonowski) Bader and was the second youngest of five children.

By the age of five, Janet started playing the piano and by the age of 15 she was giving lessons from the parlor of her home. She continued playing the piano for 70 years. She attended St. Josaphat elementary and graduated from St. Andrews high school. Janet was an adventurous person. After high school she worked in Washington, Arizona and Wyoming. She attended the University of Arizona, University of Wyoming and Ferris State University where she earned a Bachelor’s of science degree and a Master’s degree in education. She worked as a paralegal, paramedic, and adult educator.

It was Janet’s dimples and her talent at the piano that attracted William Hardigan to her in 1955. Bill and Janet married on December 28, 1957 in Saginaw, Michigan.

Left to honor and remember her love are Janet’s eight children, Mary (Robert) Gillespie, William Jr. (Carrie) Hardigan, Patrick (Pamela) Hardigan, Timothy Hardigan, Peter (Shelly) Hardigan, Andrew (Shannon) Hardigan, James (Pamela) Hardigan and Jennifer (Brian) Sebolt; 29 grandchildren; Marie (Chad Vance) Lafkiotes, Megan (Carl) Laura, Robert Gillespie, Nicole (James Ranger) Hardigan, Christopher Hardigan, Michael Hardigan, Seamus Hardigan, Liam Hardigan, Collin Hardigan, Bailey Hardigan, Andrew Hardigan, Bernadette Hardigan, Lake Hardigan, Bridget Hardigan, Erin Hardigan, Matthew Hardigan, Isabel Hardigan, Tomas Hardigan, Daniel Hardigan, Nicolas Hardigan, Chase Cousineau, Elise Cousineau, Ava Cousineau, Evan Cousineau, Chuck (Rachel) Sebolt, Lauren (Derek) Hughey, Nicole Sebolt, Kayla Sebolt, and Jillian Sebolt; six great-grandchildren: Katherine, Veronica, Walter, James, Daisy and Will; a sister, Rosie (Cy) Wallace; a brother Allen (Patricia) Bader, and many nieces and nephews.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers Charles and Richard. Janet will be remembered as a bright, shining light in the various communities and churches she served.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary Catholic Church, 157 High St. in Williamston on Friday June 22 at 11 am, with Father John Whitlock officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Williamston Michigan.

The family will greet friends from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home in Williamston Michigan, and again at church on Friday morning from 10-11 am until the time of service.

The Hardigan family would like to extend our gratitude to all the caring staff and nurses at the Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan, specifically those in the cardiac care unit for their attentiveness and loving care.
