He was the son of Allen and Margaret Erickson and graduated from the University of Minnesota. He spent his entire career with Travelers Insurance (formerly The St. Paul Companies) and retired in 2014 as Vice President of Financial Institutions. Gary was a member of Church of the Assumption. He loved spending time with family and friends, but his greatest enjoyment came from his grandchildren, who affectionately called him “Pa.” His hobbies included golfing, travel, reading, theater, volunteer work (Habitat for Humanity, Store to Door, coaching baseball) and taking pride in yard work and home improvement projects.
Gary was preceded in death by his father, Allen Erickson; father-in-law, Rudolph Weber; brothers-in-law, Ron Kolquist and Tom Rhea. Gary will be deeply missed by his wife, Karin; children, Brian (Andrea), Kyle (Kelly), Kristy; grandchildren, Chase and Gabriella; mother, Margaret; sisters, Jeanne Kolquist and Linda (Joe) Smith; mother-in-law, Ingeborg Weber; sister-in-law, Anita Rhea; brother-in-law, Norm Weber; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation on Tuesday June 26 from 4 to 7pm at Wulff Funeral Home, 2195 Woodlane Drive, Woodbury, and one hour prior to mass at church. Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday June 27 at 10am at Church of the Assumption, 51 West 7th Street, St. Paul.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Gary to the Brain Aneurysm Foundation or Habitat for Humanity.
