Arleen Frances Neighbors

Arleen Frances (Boland) Neighbors of Bellevue, died July 14, at home. She was 89. Arleen was born to Vincent & Agnes Boland on Oct 4, 1928 in Platte SD. Her family moved to Washington when she was 14. She graduated from Enumclaw High School in 1946, where she lettered in Basketball. The day after graduation she took a bus into Seattle and found a job with Seattle First National Bank. While in high school she met the love of her life, Lawrence Jay Neighbors. They wed on June 10, 1950, and soon moved their young family to a new home in the Lake Hills addition of Bellevue.

Arleen & Larry were charter members of St. Louise Catholic Church & School where she was an active member of St. Anne’s Guild, Alter Society, PTA, and coached Girls Volleyball. Arleen began her career as Secretary of St. Louise School in 1966. She retired in 1995, after 29 memorable years.

Arleen enjoyed many varied activities. She was an expert seamstress, and a skilled cake decorator. She loved going to the Seattle Symphony, the Issaquah Village Theater, Seattle Mariners games, and she adored her favorite singer Bertie Higgins. She also enjoyed Jigsaw and word puzzles.

Arleen was happiest when she was with her family. She was kind, compassionate, generous, with a sparkling personality, and witty sense of humor.

Arleen was pre-deceased by her parents, two sisters, two brothers, and her beloved husband Larry. Arleen is survived by her son, Kelly J. Neighbors (Vel), her daughters, Trina J. Rosin (Mark), of Longview, and Tami A. Neighbors of Bellevue, two grandsons, two grand-daughters and one great-granddaughter.

Visitation will be Tuesday July 24 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Sunset Hills Chapel, with Rosary following.

A mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Wednesday July 25, at St. Louise Catholic Church with a reception following in the Parish Hall. Burial will take place at 2:00 pm at Sunset Hills Memorial Park in Bellevue.

In Lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St. Louise School Endowment Fund, Susan B. Komen Cancer Foundation, or a charity of choice.
