She was born in Rock Island, IL April 29, 1930 the daughter of Richard and Bertha (Loveless) Smith. She married Jim Sullivan and later married Billie Gene Wagoner, he preceded her in death in 1994. She was also preceded in death by her 2 sisters; Sharon and Rita, 4 brothers; Albert, Paul, Bobby and Herman and a great granddaughter, Brooke.
Martha retired as a caretaker. She was very involved with anything relating to supporting our troops of the Armed Forces. She was a member and past president of both the 21st District, and Unit 32 of the American Legion Auxiliary, was a member and served as past Locale, and Grande President of the La Socretud Femme, and was a member and past chapeau of Sangamon Salon 225 8/40. She was a supporter of the DAV, VFW Post 10302, and the Navy Club.
Surviving are her children: James (companion Carrie Klauzer) Sullivan of Springfield, Mary (husband Gary) Stetkar of Florida, Theresa (companion Mike Gowin) Geist, Delores Sullivan, step daughter Mary Ann (husband Mike) Clark all of Springfield, step-son, John Wagoner of Texas, 15 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, her sister Alberta Pape of Florida and her brother, Gary Smith of Springfield.
Arrangements are in the care of Bisch and Son Funeral Home 505 E. Allen, Springfield, where the family will greet friends from 4-7 pm Monday, July 30, 2018 and where funeral services will be held at 9:30 am Tuesday, July 31, 2018. Burial will follow in Camp Butler National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Legion Auxiliary Post 32 Scholarship Fund.
