Robert August Goelzer, Jr.

Mr. Robert August Goelzer, age 88, passed away Monday, July 23, 2018 in Chilton, Texas. Funeral service will be held Saturday, July 28, at 3:00 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home in Marlin. Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, July 27, at the funeral home.

Robert was born August 9, 1929 to Robert August Goelzer, Sr. and Genevieve (Suttle) Goelzer in Chilton, Texas. He was the oldest of 6 siblings. Robert served in the Marine Corps in Korea, leaving the service after his tour as 1st Lieutenant. He worked as an expert in supply and distribution until he retired from Hoechst Celanese Corp as a Senior Buyer. After his retirement he was active in his community as a board member of the Chilton Independent School District where he was recognized for his dedicated leadership. He was also active politically as well as being involved in various other organizations.

He is survived by his daughter, Diana Womack of Terlingua; son, Robert F. Goelzer of Houston; daughter, Susan Morado of Houston; mother of his children, Lorraine Goelzer of Houston; grandchildren, Janet and Brandon Wood of Houston; Laura and Jad Attar of Abilene; Jake Helpinstill of Houston; Chloe Helpinstill of Houston; Daniel Morado of Houston; great-grandchild, May Attar of Abilene; sister, Betty Hinton; brother and wife, Richard and Sherrill Goelzer of Amarillo; sister and husband Lynn and Billy Engelke of Chilton; numerous nieces and nephews; dear friends Katy and James Chandler and family.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dr. Ronald Goelzer; sister, Rose Fitte.
