Richard was one of the kindest and warmest individuals  I have had the pleasure of knowing.  I was saddened today to hear of his passing  for he was truly a friend and a brother.  We shared many great times together and worked with each other on the waters of Martin County Fl.  Many times we went to each others assistance whenever and wherever.  As an Officer on the Florida Marine Patrol, Richard and I developed a close bond through the years. We had both retired  but kept in touch.  Richard and I shared our beliefs in Jesus and that's why I know this separation is for a short time.  I have been forever touched by a man I loved and will miss him till we meet again.  My sincerest  sympathy.  May God by the Holy Spirit bless and comfort his wonderful family.  

I've never met another person like Richard, he was someone you could call a true friend. He was a joy to be around and there was never a dull moment.  Richard was an outstanding man with a pure heart.  My sympathy goes out to his family.

Through  the years whenever I met this extraordinary person , never saw him without a beautiflul smile .  I am sure that he is smiling to all of us right now from heaven.
He was also fortunate to have Lauren  always close to him.

I am a Weir High School Class of 1978 graduate.  I haven't seen Rich since graduation but for the past few years, I've watched his Hillybilly at Sea Salt Studio videos and read about his long fight with multiple myeloma.  Everything he posted attested to his love for his friends and family, and life in general, and his determination to win his fight.  My deepest sympathies to his wife, children, extended family and friends.  May his memory be eternal.

Thank you Rich for being one of my favorite people and a good friend.  I will cherish the memories always.   I loved so many of your qualities especially the love for your wife, daughters and family.  Thanks for your dedicated service to Martin County, my best memories of MCSO will always have you in them, loved talking to you.  My life on Earth  won't be the same without you, you were such an inspiration to me, so very special.   Your faith was as large as your heart so I know you are at peace.   Until we meet again, keep playing that guitar and sing with the angels.   Will miss you. 


We worked at McDonald's on a crew team. Making burgers, and at the same time, talking about Weir High/ Madonna High School rivalries. Both of us belonged to the Weirton Heights VFD, Weirton WV. There was never a dull moment while Richie was around. If he didn't make you laugh, he made you think.. Think about yourself. There was nothing phony about Richie. He was just... himself. That is how I'll ALWAYS remember him. Rest in peace, brother. 

Growing up and going through school together and the time you spent in Weirton  Heights Vol. Fire Dept. with me you were always a stand up guy,  happy go lucky.  You touched my lives,  I'm sure in your short life.   I pray for your family and friends and that you be granted Eternal Rest my friend.

Richard through my eyes was a very friendly, hard working guy who loved what life had to offer.  He is too soon gone and will be missed, my prayers go out to his family and may he rest at peace.

Richard is survived by his wife of 32 years, Lauren Arango of Port St. Lucie, FL; his daughters, Stephanie Lovechio (Anthony) of Port St. Lucie, FL and Vanessa Arango of Port St. Lucie, FL; brother, Troy Arango (Kathy) of West Virginia; sister, Lisa Arango of West Virginia; nephew, Justin Arango of West Virginia; nephew, Mathew Gonzalez of West Virginia. 

Richard was predeceased by Richard Arango, Sr., of West Virginia.
