Victoria Martinez

Victoria Martinez, 67, Colorado City, went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 30, 2018, passing with her loving family by her side. She was born on May 23, 1951 in Taylor, Texas to the late Rafael and Marcelina Balderas Martinez.

Victoria was a happy-go-lucky, fun-loving woman who believed that God and family should be the center of life. Throughout the years, she could be seen volunteering for events at church, no matter which church she attended and was especially happy to teach Sunday-School classes when she got the opportunity. Her warm-hearted nature and great sense of humor were traits that helped her through life, especially when she was fighting cancer for 5 years while helping to take care of her mother during her final days. Victoria loved to work with her hands, in her spare time she could be seen gardening, canning, crocheting, and quilting, or spending time with her dogs whom she loved dearly. To know her, was to love her and she will be dearly missed. Many people will miss their daily rituals with her, such as her sister who enjoyed spending every Monday with her eating chicken while sitting on the front porch, reminiscing and listening to the beautiful music of her wind chimes.

Victoria is survived by her brother Luis Martinez and wife Donna of Brownfield, by her sisters Martha Martinez of Colorado City and Mary Alvarez and husband Robert of Breckenridge, and by a special friend Alberto Arellano. Also surviving are her nieces and nephews; Nancy Escalante, Luis Martinez Jr., Angelita (Angie) White, Jesus Martinez, Tony Martinez, Rafael Martinez, Robert (Bobby) Alvarez Jr., Patrick Alvarez, and Jennifer Louise Loznak, as well as by several great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles, and dear friends. Survivors of her late husband Manuel Lopez include her sister-in-laws Margaret Acevedo, Mary Lopez, Elaine Williams, and Benita Lopez; brother-in-laws Sipriano Lopez and Pete Lopez; nieces and nephews, Diana Garcia, Trevor Moreno, Jason Moreno, Kevin Moreno, Brennon Moreno, Sheree Garcia, Erica Cortez, Chelsea Cortez, Nicky Williams, Austin, Lauren, Adela Sanchez, Enedina Adams, Christina Ayala, and Jaime Lopez.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Manuel Lopez; brother-in-laws Vicente Lopez, Rufino Lopez, and Lupe Lopez.

A funeral service for Victoria will be held on Saturday, August 4th at 10 am at Primera Iglesia Baustista el Calvario with Pastor Felix Silva officiating, interment will follow in the Mitchell County Cemetery.

The family will be present for a visitation on Friday, August 3rd from 6-8 pm at the Kiker Seale Funeral Home with a rosary to be held at 7pm.
