Dorothy Louise Thomas

Dorothy Louise Thomas, 92 of Montgomery passed away Sunday, August 5, 2018. She was born September 16, 1925 in Devers, Texas to Rufus Christopher Gatlin and RD Abshier Gatlin. She attended Lamar College and received a degree in English. Dorothy was a member of April Sound Church and was the last living founding charter member. She also participated in the April Sound Lady’s Association. Dorothy enjoyed being with her family, fishing, golfing, and traveling the world. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Jack Thomas, sister Nonie Mae Broussard and her husband Sonny, and sister-in-law Joan Gatlin. Survivors include her son Michael Bennett and his daughter April, son Rick Bennett and his wife, Lindsay and their daughters, Kendall and Meredith. She is also survived by her brother Buddy Gatlin and his children Barbara Willard, Chris Gatlin and Lenny Wright and sons of her late sister, Joe Broussard and Gene Broussard. A memorial service will be held at April Sound Church on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Dowen Johnson to officiate.
