William "Bill" Howard Minton Jr.

The family will receive guests at Griggs Schooler Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St, in the Pioneer Chapel on Sunday, August 12, 2018 from 5 pm to 7 pm. A celebration of life will be held in the Pioneer Chapel on Monday, August 13, 2018 at 10 am with Pastor Harold W. Moore presiding.

Bill was born on March 06, 1941 in Dalhart, Texas to William and Florence Minton. He was a 1960 graduate of Palo Duro High School in Amarillo, Texas. He married his bride of 20 years, Marilyn Kay Lockridge, on December 3, 1998. In 2008, after 30 years of service, Bill retired from the Amarillo Pantex plant. Bill was a lifetime member of the Amarillo Gun Club where he served as the current president of the Board of Directors. Bill won numerous championships and awards in trap shooting. In 2014, Bill took third place at the American Trapshooting Association’s World Championship where he competed in the 23-24 yard Crow Shooting Supply Handicap.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William and Florence; and his great-grandson LJ. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Marilyn, his siblings James Adams, Rick Farrell, Freida Hall, Mary Lou McMahon and Debbie Haynie; his children Serena Kay Friedman, Justin Scott Minton, L. James Haddan III, and Victoria Renee Steensen; his grandchildren Ray, Jennifer, Sid, and Lacey; and his great grandchildren Christian, Kiylee, Sophia, Penny, Tommy, Simon, Abel, and Teddy.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Amarillo Gun Club Scholarship Fund.
