June married J.D. Waldon December 16, 1968 and enjoyed 24 years of marriage until his death in 1992. She often said that he was the best thing that ever happened to her.
June was also blessed with four boys. Jerry Guthrie, Terry Guthrie, Gary Guthrie and Kevin Waldon. She loved all her sons with all her heart and sacrificed a lot to provide for them. She was also blessed with three grandchildren, Courtney Tidwell, Brendan Waldon and Brede Waldon as well as three great grandchildren, Ariel Tidwell, Ezekiel Tidwell and Emberlyn Tidwell. June loved her grandchildren with all her heart and always looked forward to their visits.
After a long career as a waitress, most notably working at The Golden Rooster at the Inn of the Golden West, June started a long career with Pinkies Liquor Stores, which spanned over 35 years. June was a familiar face in Pinkies stores holding various positions and working at various locations. She was proud of her career and developed lifelong friendships and had the opportunity to work for some amazing people through her time with Pinkies. She was able to work for Pinkies well past her 86th birthday. The family of June Waldon is extremely thankful to Austin and Michelle Keith as well as Kelli Burkes for everything that you did for June. A very special thanks to the staff at Madison Medical Resort for giving the care and love to June.
June was preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Waldon; sons Jerry Guthrie and Gary Guthrie; parents Ira Drewry and Mae Drewry; sister, Bonnie Massey; brothers George Drewry, Dale Drewry and Donald Drewry, as well as her beloved dog, Gizmo.
June is survived by her sons, Terry Guthrie; Kevin Waldon and wife Pamela. Grandchildren Courtney Tidwell and husband Jeff; Brendan Waldon and Brede Waldon. Great Grandchildren Ariel, Ezekiel and Emberlyn Tidwell. Brothers Fay Drewry and wife Gay and Bill Drewry and wife Joyce. Sister-in-laws Betty Drewry, Tommye Drewry and Wanda Drewry. Numerous nieces and nephews and countless other extended family members who loved their “Grandma June.”
Memorial Services for June will be held Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 10:00 am at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral home with her Grandson Jeff Tidwell officiating.
