 So many memories we had on W 16th Dr. We will always remember as our Dad used to call it "church on the Divine Diving Board". We know the sadness your going through, please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and your families and that Leo and Betty are with Mike and Joan and Mike Jr.

Dear Laura and sisters...I'm sure I met your dad and mom (and you, Laura, and probably-baby Nancy) in Cal & Janice Bacon's backyard in the summer of 1958.  My mom and I had just moved to Wheat Ridge from SE Nebraska following the untimely death of my farmer dad.  I was only 11 and my aunt--Janice--trusted me to babysit baby Pam and 8- y.o.  Doug.  Remember the "ladder" which connected your back yards?   Your mom and dad were both kind, fun people, and I know they were such terrific friends of Janice & Cal.  

I continued to see your family on occasion as long as you and the Bacons lived "back to back" on Reed & Saulsbury Sts.

And I'm pretty sure that was how I ended up with a grrrrrreat 1965 summer-before-I-went-off-to-college job at Ridgewood Realty!   Your dad (kindly) trusted me as the receptionist and phone secretary for him, Rich B., and all their terrific R.E. agents!   I was SO grateful to him for that, and I learned SO MUCH from all of them!  And it was a very fun place to work!

Joan's death was such a blow to all of you...and to my Aunt Janice....I'm hopeful that they and Mike and Cal--are all enjoying each other again!

Here's a little funny...In 2000, I took a part-time job as a Census employee.   As I live in the Bonnie Brae area, I quickly accepted the assignment to follow up on "no reply" census forms for areas near my home.  Mike and no doubt Suzy (who I never had the pleasure to meet), had not returned their mailed census forms, so they were "on my list" to follow up with!  Of course, I got no farther than the front office of their lovely Cherry Creek Drive high rise home.  Though I would have loved to see Mike, all I could do was leave another census packet, and I probably I left something of a note a "little more personal" than the government would have approved! :)

My dad was Dick Hansen. He and Mike were good friends. When I was about 7 or 8 my dad and Johnny Di Sabato took me with them when they went to visit Mike at his house. It was a beautiful summer day and Mike was grilling Italian sausage for sandwiches in the backyard. He was so sweet to me and he talked to me as I was shy. Now, my family are the Frazzini's so I had eaten plenty of Italian food by that time BUT Mike's sausage sandwich was the best thing I had ever tasted! Here after all these years have passed (I am now 63) I still remember the flavor of that sandwich and thinking, as that little girl, how delicious this wonderful sausage tasted! I loved it! Over the years I have tried to duplicate it but never got close. I guess Mike had the magic touch. I cherish this fond memory of him and his inspiration.   I know he and my dad are enjoying one of those sandwiches together in heaven.

Please accept  both Charlotte and my most sincere thoughts and prayers.  You are not alone in this as attested by your many, many friends.
My friendship goes back a long time with Mike and so sad for  your loss.  Mike was just the best.
Should there be anything either Charlotte or I can do please call on us.

To Mikes family,

I will fondly remember Mike as a humble gentleman. The conversations we had about our common family backgrounds and growing up in the same neighborhood of north Denver brought back great memories.   He would often say how fortunate and blessed we were to be doing well in life. Rest in peace, Mike.
