Richard DiPalo, age 79, of New Milford, passed away on September 5, 2018. He was born on May 24, 1939 in Queens, NY, the son of Nicholas and Mary (Tamburri) DiPalo. Rich started his career in the shipping industry becoming Vice President of Panocean-Anco Tanker Service, Inc. Rich and his family moved to Wilton, CT, where he was employed by Servco Oil Co. (now Santa Energy). A second home with many friends, he only just retired this past August after 32 years. One of his proudest achievements was becoming Captain of the volunteer Hook and Ladder Company #1, Hicksville Fire Department.
He was a devoted husband to Angela (Stolfi) DiPalo for nearly 39 years and loving father to their only child Rose Mary DiPalo. No words can express how much he was loved and how much he will be missed by them.
Rich’s love extended to his nieces and their families, enjoying time with them and his many grand-nieces and nephews. He will also be greatly missed by his sister-in-law Theresa Janson, of West Harrison, NY, and brother Nicholas DiPalo of Ridge, NY. Rich was an avid fan of the NY Jets, NY Yankees, and John Wayne “The Duke” and was a real man’s man.
Friends may call at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, on Sunday, September 9 from 2pm – 5pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, September 10 at 10:30 am, at St. Joseph Church, Brookfield.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Praxair Cancer Center at Danbury Hospital, especially Penny, Jim, and Meghan. In addition, the nurses, aides, and staff on 9 East Tower who looked after Rich with much respect and care during his long hospital stay. Thank you to Dr. Matthew Corvo for his professionalism, patience, and kindness.
