Dorothy Mae Stutts died peacefully in Odessa on October 21, 2018 at the age of 73. Dorothy is survived by husband Marwyn Stutts of Odessa, son Ronnie Reid of Midland, daughter Michelle Strickland of Odessa, son Cory Stutts of Odessa, son Royce Stutts of Carrollton, sister Janice Bridges Elam of Abilene, grandchildren Kira Barnett of Odessa, Ashley Boen of California, Matthew Gardner of New York, and Amber Gardner of New York, and eight great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by parents W.H. Cheek and Dorothy Dean Mercer, daughter Dora Stutts, grandchildren Kelli Nicole Waggoner, Deanna McCarty and Robert McCarty.
She was born July 9, 1945 in Stamford, Texas to W.H. Cheek and Dorothy Dean Shelly Mercer. She married Marwyn L. Stutts in 1975. Dorothy began her career in government in 1984 working for the Federal Aviation Administration, U.S. Border Patrol and retiring from the U.S. Marshal’s Service in 2005.
She enjoyed traveling in their motor home, playing bingo and slots.
She was a loving Mother, Nanny and Great Nanny.
A service for Dorothy will be held Thursday, October 25, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Rev. Dewayn Johnson will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. An open visitation will take place Wednesday, October 24, 2018 from 9:00 am – 9:00 pm.
