I was with the Transit Police from 91-95. I worked with John otter. I just learned of John's passing. John was one of the nicest guys I worked with. I am sure he is in a good place, God Bless you John!

John worked with me and for me for several years. He was a true professional, kind, calming influence in an office that was often chaotic. Transitioning from Boston EMS to the Transit Police was a joy for him.
We shared being paratroopers together and shared jump stories. He will be truely missed by his family and transit police friends. Rest In Peace - God bless.


I was a rookie in 1989 when I met John, and my first impression  was, this guy is a true gentleman. John would do anything for a fellow officer and was a true, "cops cop".
John was also a pioneer of community policing. One of his last assignments was at Boston's South Station, probably the busiest transportation facility in New England. John became a friendly and reliable fixture there among employees and commuters. Even in the twilight of his career John never backed down from anyone no matter how big or violent. But in most cases John's quiet and thoughtful demeanor could talk any bad guy on the brink of violence to a compliant and forgiving soul who would usually thank John for treating him with respect.

Rest well John, you have completed your last patrol and you will always be a shining light in the history of The MBTA Transit Police.
