Wanda J. Hammel

Wanda Jean Weaver Hammel was born September 1932 to Erby Edgar and Eva Mae Weaver in Lavaca, Arkansas. She was raised in Cottonwood Texas and moved to Houston after graduation. Here she met and married Melvin Hammel who introduced her to her new life as a military wife and they traveled the world. They retired to live in Schertz Texas for over 40 years. Her later years she was residing at Canyon Lake Texas. She passed on October 24, 2018 and is survived by two of her three children, eldest Deborah Young husband Kim and youngest Sandra Hammel. She has four grand children Rebecca Hedrick, Christopher Ford, Jason Bohling and Justin Chestnut along with each of their spouses and 16 great grandchildren and 14 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters Billie Kelly and Mary Weaver and brother Herman Weaver. She is preceded in death by her husband Melvin, her son Gary, her brothers Floyd, Warren, Carl and sisters Nadine and Shirley.

Services will be held at Colonial Funeral Home, 625 Kitty Hawk, Universal City Texas on Tuesday, November 6 11:00am with Interment following to join her husband and son at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. Visitation available from 6-8pm the evening before.
