Mary Alice McGowan, 86, of Whiting, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2018 at Crestwood Manor, Whiting, surrounded by family. She was a homemaker and worked briefly in sales at Marcs Men in Reistertown, MD for a few years. She loved playing cards and quilting.
Born in Fredonia, NY she resided in Westfield and for many years in Toms River before going to Manahawkin and Barnegat and more recently coming to Whiting 5 years ago.
Mary is predeceased by her husband, the late George F. McGowan in 2010 and a brother Donald Marsh. She is survived by two sons; Dennis McGowan and his wife Karen of Berlin, MD & Thomas McGowan and his wife Karen of Atlanta, GA; a daughter Mary Ann Barreca and her husband Philip of Waretown; 5 grandchildren, Michael, Shaun, Matthew, Timothy, and Caitlin and 3 great grandchildren, Addison, Brayden and Liam. Mary is also survived by a sister, Carol Everett.
Friends may call on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 115 Lacey Road, Whiting. Funeral Services will be Monday at 11am at the Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River, NJ.
