Emma was my first friend when I went to South Ridge. She was always so happy and kind. Emma and I shared art class on Wednesday's and I remember when we worked on our hoola hoops in the hall, we just spoke about life. She listened and it was the first time I believe I felt heard. I had two necklaces on, the moon and the sun, and asked which she would want. She said the sun, and to be expected. Emma was a girl who had her struggles but always seemed to rise above them all. Even though in the past Emma and I had our hardships, and soon lost contact, I still feel like she was always a good and civil person, and that she spread her kindness to everyone around her. May you fly high, Emma.

My strongest memory is of Emma pulling my grandsons and any other little ones that would want around in the wagon at my mothers (her mother's Aunt Shirley's house) at Bowman Lake.  We would sometimes watch with worry, but she  so sure of herself and focused on her task of taking care of the little ones.  So caring with such big love she was and will always be for anyone whose life she touched.  This is a poem that has helped me with loss of loved ones, may you find some comfort too:
