Lois Ellen (Ransdell )Talkington of Stuarts Draft, VA, age 86, went to be with the Lord on November 11, 2018. She was born on June 7, 1932 in Mercer, KY to Laura Love (Huffman) and Horace Leon Ransdell.
Lois attended Trevecca Nazarene University for two years. She married Clarence Jesse Talkington on June 8, 1951. Together, they had five children: Leona Sue, Pauletta Andrea, Laura Mae, Bessie Jo and Henry David. She was a loving wife and mother.
Lois worked throughout the years. She was employed at Lec Electric, Shoney's Big Boy in Portsmouth, Va., with 18 years at CBN as a prayer counselor, and took in sewing and ironing.
Lois loved crafts; she made jewelry with shells, homemade greeting cards, painted. She sewed most of her children's clothes. She remade her daughters' wedding gowns and sewed one completely from imagination.
Lois was a wonderful pastor's wife, always holding teas, quilting bees, Bible studies, and mentoring the younger ladies in Christ.
She is survived by her five children: Leona Singleton and husband, Randy, Pauletta Hardison and husband, Richard, Laura Robertson (husband, Edward deceased), Bessie Zeedyk and husband, Ron, Henry David and wife, Michelle ; 14 grandchildren: Jesse (Jay), Larissa Durose, and Randal (Buddy) Singleton, Elizabeth Michael, Rachel Moody, and Andrew Hardison, Christi West and Misty Styron and their spouses; 33 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Lois is predeceased in death by her parents and little sister, Jackie Louise.
She will be remembered for her giving spirit and faith in Jesus Christ.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday, November 16, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Stuarts Draft Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes and Crematory.
A funeral service will be conducted following the viewing on Friday, November 16, 2018 at the funeral home.
A reception will be held at her home by daughters, Bessie and Laura at 305 Draft Ave, Stuarts Draft, VA, 24477 after the service.
