He was survived by his wife Jeanne, with whom he shared 64 years of loving marriage; his three sons, William, Thomas and Neil; his four grandchildren: Caitlin, Kyle, Corey and Claire; and his sister, Margaret McGowan.
Frank Kearney was born April 12, 1926, in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania. Upon graduating from Holy Cross College in 1946 he enlisted in the United States Navy. He rose to the rank of Commander and retired after twenty-two years of active and reserve service.
Frank Kearney spent most of his career working as a civil servant for the United States Navy in a variety of civilian personnel management positions, including Personnel Director at the 32nd Street Naval Station.
A loving husband and father and a devout Catholic, Frank Kearney was also an enthusiastic volunteer in many organizations: the Boy Scouts, the San Diego Historical Society, the Maritime Museum, Trailsetters, and the Railway Museum.
After a rosary at 10:30, a funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 27th at Our Lady of Perpetual Help church at 13208 Lakeshore Drive in Lakeside, California. A reception at the adjacent Holy Family Center immediately follows. A committal service for Francis will then be held between 2:30 pm and 3:00 pm at Miramar National Cemetery.
