Robert William Greenawalt Jr.

Robert William Greenawalt Jr., 85, passed away at Midland Care Hospice, Topeka, Kansas on November 27, 2018. He will be forever remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to everyone he met.

“Bob” as he was known by his family and friends was born on July 13, 1933 in Crossroads, Pennsylvania to Robert William Greenawalt Sr. and Rae Allison (Flesher) Greenawalt. He was married to Winifred Eileen McKim on January 27, 1957 and on February 1, 1959 was blessed with daughter Rebecca Eileen.

Growing up as a young boy he was active in church and Boy Scouts and became a Life Scout and member of the Order of the Arrow. He graduated from Greensburg High School with the class of 1951. He worked in Lawrence, Kansas at KMART Distribution Center and in Denver Colorado for the Tele shopper delivery service at King Soopers Grocery Chain (Kroger Companies).

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Ralph Greenawalt. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, daughter Rebecca Kessler of Lawrence Kansas and his brother Swain Leonard Greenawalt II and his wife Lenore of Salem, West Virginia. Five grandchildren, Nicolette Kessler, Cary Kessler, Barrett Kessler, Susan Rockhold and Edward William Rockhold. Great grandchildren are Isabella Kessler and Barrett Kessler II, Desiree Bennett, A.J. Bennett, Aubriana Wise, and Jayden Wise.

Through the years Bob was active in church activities, singing in choirs, quartets and barbershop harmony. He served two terms as a Deacon while attending Bear Creek Evangelistic Presbyterian Church in Lakewood, Colorado.

Memorial Service on December 3, at 1:30 p.m. in Lawrence, Kansas at the First United Methodist Church 946 Vermont Street. Burial in Wheatridge, Colorado on December 10, 2018 10:00 a.m. at Olinger Crown Hill Cemetery.
