Bill Draper, 83, of Dunlap, Illinois, flew home November 28, 2018 at his home. He was born to Faustine C. Bottenberg-Draper on August 28, 1935 in Peoria, Illinois. He married Phyllis J. Brockamp August 27, 1983 in Dunlap, Illinois. She survives.
He leaves his wife, Phyllis, sons Michael (Susan) Draper of Van Alstyne, Texas, Scott (Jean) Draper of Yuma, AZ, stepsons Jeff (Nanette) Brockamp of Marquette Heights, IL and Scott (Cassie) Brockamp of Lenoir City, TN. Also surviving are his brother, Kenneth Draper of Los Angeles, CA, 12 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. His mother and step-father, Faustine and Louis Cortright, preceded him in death.
He was employed by General Telephone Company in 1958 for 36 years, retiring June 1994. He was a part time technician and handyman for COBATCO for about 20 years. A 1953 graduate of Woodruff High School, and a Navy Seabees Veteran (l954-1957). Bill was an avid archer and hunter, and enjoyed bowling, golfing, camping and especially loved working in his woodshop. He was a “Mr. Fix It” for those in need of a helping hand; loved his faithful dog, Sassi, watching the deer and feeding and watching the birds in his backyard. Bill was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, the Men of Redeemer, and participated in the Appalachia Mission Trip to Clincho, Virginia for 7-8 years. He loved those trips.
A memorial service will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 with visitation one hour prior to the service at Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home. Pastor Ron Miller and Pastor Chip Winter will officiate. Cremation rites are accorded.
