Hazel Wallace Whitlock, age 98, of Richmond, VA, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace William Whitlock; her parents Maxey Wallace and Hazel Thurston Wallace Didlake; and brothers Maxey Wallace, Edward Wallace, and Preston Wallace; Stepfather, Andrew “Buck” Didlake. Hazel, also known as “Granny” or “Nannie”, taught us to live a happy life by the way she lived her life. She was always “ready to go”; whether it was her daily trip to McDonalds or to visit her children and grandchildren in other states. She loved to laugh – and everyone knew if she got really “tickled” it may turn into an uncontrollable laughter fit. Hazel loved to crochet, play cards (she was the Rummy Queen) and work on puzzles. She was an expert at making double-decker peanut butter and jelly sandwiches on Wonder Bread, smashed grilled cheese sandwiches and the family favorite – no-bake fudgies. Left to honor Hazel and remember her love; sister, Barbara Anne Blystone, daughters, Faye Oliver and Ann Carol Oakley (Bobby), son, William Whitlock (Sherri), and grandchildren Dana Oliver, Donna Pendergast ( Ross), Jill Peck (Cliff), Josh Whitlock, Dwayne Oliver (Kristin), Tyler Whitlock (Angie), and great-grandchildren; Scott, Alex, and Brandon Davis, Emily Peck; Garrett, Trevor, Dylan and Miranda Pendergast; Lydia Whitlock; Gracie Oliver and Ty Oliver; Great great-grandson, Grayson Davis. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Elizabeth Adam Crump Nursing Home in Glen Allen, VA for their loving care. Visitation will be held at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, VA 23231 on Monday, December 3, from 2:00-4:00 pm and 6:00-8:00 pm.
