He was the son of Mike E. Callahan II, Leslie Donaldson and step-son of Luttrell Donaldson. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Shirley Callahan; daughters, Debra Orokos (Ed) and Patricia Kropac (Richard); grandchildren, Nicole Hingley (Daniel), Kristen Orokos, Michael Orokos; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Everett and Maeve Hingley; and numerous extended family members.
Mike joined the Navy at the age of 17. He began his career as a Washington, D.C., police officer and retired as a commercial underwriter. He was a member of Bon Air Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir. He belonged to a dance club with his wife, Shirley. He was a longtime member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 12, 2018, at Woody's Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd., Midlothian, Va. 23113 from 6 to 8 p.m. A private burial interment will be in Dale Memorial on December 13, 2018, at 2 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Bon Air Baptist Church, 2531 Buford Rd., Richmond, Va. 23235, on Sunday, December 16, 2018, at 2 p.m. A reception to follow.
