I am seeing this two years after Oscar passed away.. I am deeply saddened. Oscar and I went to Newton Bateman elementary school in Chicago,   Almost every morning he had lipstick on his cheek ( I think his mother kissed him goodbye every morning). There is a large group from Bateman 1971 we still get together, with sadness I will share

I've known Oscar since I started working at Siemens in 1980. It was great to work with him but he became an even better friend. We played softball on several championship teams & celebrated both wins & losses after games. There were also many times we would get together with Silvia, Henry & Sallie & other friends to watch all the big boxing matches back in the day on pay per view at Oscar's home. He had the BIG 35 inch TV (huge for the time).  I even spent one Christmas evening with the Velasco family when I had car trouble & was not able to make the trip to celebrate with my family.
That is the kind of guy Oscar & the Velasco family are.
You will be sorely missed by everyone.

I have known Oscar since 1980 , we played softball , went out as a team and had lots of fun ! Oscar once called me a maniac ( good naturedly) and the name stuck ! To this day their are people who still refer to me as 'The Maniac" . He became pretty big in the Siemens Corp. , but never forgot where he came from ! Always stopped by to say hello and catch up when he came to Siemens ( Hoffman Estates). I was fortunate to say he was my friend and will never forget him ! RIP , Oscar , I know you battled for quite a while ! You will be missed by all who knew you , my friend.


So many great memories and fun times with Oscar, Kathy, and the girls.  My fondest memory was how Oscar loved to laugh!  It didn’t matter what it was he could always find a bit of humor in it and taught us how wonderful it was to laugh!  I will never forget those fun times at Disney or when we went to the nascar race at MIS and it poured rain all day and Oscar said “don’t worry, I got rain ponchos for us.”  So Oscar pulls out two Disney ponchos, you know with Mickey on the back, only to find out the one he gave me was one of the girls and it only came down to my chest!  Needless to say we sat on the bleachers in the pouring rain laughing our a$$ off as I was soaked from head to toe!  There were many more times like that for Oscar, myself, and our families and while you are not with us physically, you will always be with us spiritually.  God bless you my friend and please just make sure you have the right size poncho for God!

Too many good memories to list here. Our families took multiple vacations together when our kids were young. Our trip to NYC was a blast after they moved to New Jersey. Then another trip to Texas when they moved to Houston. Oscar spared nothing to make sure we felt comfortable when visiting. 
Oscar taught us all how to deal with a major crisis. He never complained and then went about life as if nothing was going on. Pretty amazing when you think about it. I’m glad our paths crossed in life. 

So many, but to think of my top 3...1) Walking down the aisle to my future with you by my side. 2) Introducing you to your sweet Granddaughter for the first time. Coming back from HEB and you sitting in back just hanging out with her and talking. 3) Our trip to Cabo with Siemens. One of the best weeks I’ve ever had and memories I will never forget. 

I love you always. 

Words are so inadequate .... so sad to lose such a good man and friend .... our families shared lots of good times and memories in Michigan when our kids were little .  I feel blessed to have known you Oscar and honored to call you friend.  You have taught us much through yr struggle these past 6 years.... and I am confident you will continue to teach us from above .   I have asked  my mom to help welcome you into heaven and show you the ropes!   Kathy , kallie , Annie , and Kassie : my thoughts , love , and prayers continue to be with you ....sending virtual hugs and comfort ....love you guys!   

I remember Oscar when I was  customer. He had away to make you as if you were his only customer. He  was kind and direct. So sorry to hear of his passing. May external life be granted to you Oscar

Too  many memories to share just a few.  Oscar and his family were our neighbors since Kallie was in 2nd grade and we were blessed that she was assigned to Jenna's class.  Kathy and Lisa - we consider  both of your families as part of our own.  Words cannot even come close to expressing what I feel and I so badly just want all of this to go away for you but I can't.  You are all in our hearts and prayers for right now and always.  I am only a phone call, text, email or PM away!  Thank you technology!
