Don has been a good friend for many years.  We enjoyed shooting together, and he was my gun-show accomplice. We didn't get to go out shooting as much as we'd have liked, and we never did get to go squirrel hunting, but we talked about it a lot! He frequently stopped by to ask if I wanted to go to a yard sale with him. We were also yard sale buddies!  Don had a somewhat odd sense of humor; you really had to know him to understand and appreciate it because sometimes he was pretty off the wall.  He was always looking for a laugh!

I already miss him and always will.  

My deepest condolences to those he leaves behind. I wish Paula well.

I owe a lot of who I am to Grandpa. We weren’t blood related, but you’d never know it. He’s been my Grandpa for my entire life because he chose to be. My first time out fishing was with him, my first time hunting was with him. He was always there for us for whatever we needed. I’m eternally grateful to have been able to spend time with him & to call him Grandpa.  He will be greatly missed. 

You are so very special to us, your constant smile and witty ways we will always remember. We are forever grateful for all our days together and our chats over the phone.. as you would say "Glad you got to see me,"   "I'll see ya when I see ya"  Until we see you again.  May peace be with you and your love continue to shine down and surround us from up above.

I have been very blessed to have Don as my step-father.  I remember the first time I met him.  He came to our house to pick up my mom.  We ran out to the driveway to meet him.  I think we actually scared him a bit.  The only time that would ever happen.  He made my mother very happy! That was the most important thing.  He never let her down.  He took care of her as long as he could.

We went camping at Lake Havasu and later we went camping a lot at Lake Roosevelt.  Those were some great times.  He and my mom went fishing and hunting often.  Almost always without me, which honestly was fine with me.  I can't believe he actually got her out there.  She loved it.

In the mid-nineties,  my husband, Wayne and I, started to design and build their house.  It was a long, hard, but enjoyable project.  And, Don was always helping as much as he could, which actually was a lot.  He really hustled.  Those were some of the most enjoyable times. I'm so glad they got to enjoy living in their home.  It was his favorite place.

Grandpa was always ready with a witty comback for anything, like if you said see you later he would say " am I coming over later". I will charish all the creat memorities of hunting, camping, fishing, and swimming at there house.

Don and Paula were our first friends after moving from MI to AZ.  We were cousins by blood but friends by choice.  Don taught us all about this great state: how to hunt it, how to camp, how to survive the summers! We did all kinds of things with them:  hunting, hiking, camping, boating, fishing, swimming and lots of pinochle playing!  (We were so thrilled to find someone to play pinochle with!)  He was also the best person to camp with.  He could build one heck of a fire AND he loved to cook breakfast!  There was nothing like being out in the woods and smelling bacon and potatoes cooking on the grill in the crisp morning air.  He was generous, kind and helpful.  He saved our butts on more than one occasion! One would be very hard pressed to find someone more easy going and cheerful than Don.  We feel so blessed to have shared so many years with him - making so many treasured memories!  He has left a void in our hearts, but we know we will see him again in heaven and that brings us comfort.
