Mrs. Margaret Helms Scoggins, age 84 of Salisbury, peacefully passed away at Novant-Kaiser Hospice House in Salisbury after several years of declining health. Mrs. Scoggins was born January 2, 1935 in Union County to the late David Alexander Helms and Sarah Estelle McRorie. Her husband of 53 years, Raymond Arnold Scoggins and one sister, Alice Christine Helms Newell (Bud) and brother, David Clyde Helms (Ailene) also preceded her death. She was educated in Union County Schools and worked for many years at Cannon Mills in the sewing room. After her time at Cannon Mills ended due to the closing of the mill, she took a position with Terry Products in Kannapolis where she continued to utilize her sewing skills until her final retirement. Margaret was passionate about gardening; enjoyed growing her own vegetables and canning them and preparing wonderful meals for her family. She loved planting flowers so much that in her later years her son, Chris continued that task for her so she would still have beautiful flowers to enjoy. One of her true passions was watching Cowboy movies. She loved these movies and watched any time the television was on. She was a member of Organ Lutheran Church in Rockwell.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons; Donald Lloyd Carter (Donna), Roger Allen Carter (Lynne) and Christopher Arnold Scoggins. She also leaves behind her daughter, Caren Carter Christian (Michael) and brothers; Joe Neal Helms (Rose), Hoyle Wilson Helms (Eula), Walter Bruce Helms (Martha), and Leonard Wayne Helms. Also her sisters, Mary Ruth Helms Clontz (JayVan), Francis Loretta Helms Love (Edward), Juanita Isabelle Helms Nichols (Steve), Hazel Josephine Helms Cogar (Ron), Sarah Louise Helms Baucom (Jackie) along with seven grandchildren, ten great-great grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews also survive her.
