When I first met Jules we were teenagers. I had just moved back to Socal and joined a skating team that was truly awesome. We all spent hours whizzing past each other, waiting for our turn to change the record or play our tape, cutting each other off, getting bumps and bruises, and wanting to be the best. Those memories are filled with her smile. When I found out out she would be my partner, I was excited to be with such a strong skater who equally loved to skate fast and fly around the floor with no fear. Honestly, I've never held another woman as much as I've held Julianne...
I wasn't expecting to gain another sister, a second mom, a few dogs,   and a second home. 
During those years skating together or not, we always had a bond. Our first job was teaching the kids on Saturday morning, then putting on furry costumes, getting kicked/punched, and then retaliating on those little jerks. We would have the most random conversations about everything. We also always had each other's back when we were in trouble. We would sneak out after curfew just to be under the stars. When Debbie Roybal got a car, she would pick us up and we would push the car so our parents wouldn't hear us. Those were great memories! We grew up and stayed in touch. No matter what, when we got together it would be electric. She made me laugh so much. She was the sparkle to my shine. She lit up a room with her smile. She always ate one thing at a time,  it was intriguing. She loved roller coasters and water parks were our jam. I wouldn't want wait in line with anyone else. 
I always wondered/wished we stayed partners. I would never know how horrible some girls are. After Julianne, I could never find that joy with anyone else. I hope she feels all the joy I feel when I think of her. J.E.M. has a piece of my heart and it's covered in Swavorski crystals.

Julianne was my first fun friend. I had started skating at 13 and even though she was quite a bit younger, we became friends. We had SO MUCH fun sleeping over and hanging out at contests. Her mom and mine were so similar the way they were quiet like church-mice at our silly antics. Eventually, we both got older and grabbed hold of our individual lives, drifting apart as both of us slowly left skating. Yearrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrs later we tried reconnecting, but it just wasn't a right fit at the time. But I could still see she was the same Julianne I knew when we were dancing in her bedroom to KROQ. I will miss you and wish we could have gotten back together again. You will ALWAYS be remembered by the Roybals.

Having met Jules through skating, we became friendly after one national championship.  Her and her family  opened the doors to their home to me so I could travel from  Massachusetts to Riverside, Ca to have tryouts for a skating partner. The warmth and hospitality they showed me during this stay was unparalleled even to this day. Nearly 18 years later, I still reflect on that experience and the adoration I had for Jules and her magnanimous personality, talents on and off the floor and that smile of hers. We stayed in touch here and there for a while and lost touch as people often do. I will never forget her and the life experience I was lucky enough to have with her.  I am so deeply sadened by this news and my heart is with you all in this incredible time of grief.  Till next time Jules ,Love to you all. 

 
I will always remember how happy Julienne was when she was teaching a child to skate dance and when she was just skating for her own pleasure.
Skating was her happy place.  You will always be remembered for your beautiful smile  and skating. You were the best Mary Poppins ever. 
May God wrap his arms around your family at this time.

Miss Julianne had the most contagious smile!  Wow, and that laugh... I can just hear it now.  The one that goes on and on & the smile that made her words shine while she was talking.

Dear Lord, We know that you take care of your children when they leave our earth.  We know that Julianne is in a better place.  Our prayer is for Danita, who so loved her precious daughter. We know this next journey will be the most difficult a mother could ever face.  Lord we pray that you give Danita reminders that you are by her side, and that her daughter is safe in heaven.   We also pray that Julianne‘s family has an abundance of memories to recall during this difficult time.  In Jesus’s name we pray.  Amen

I remember when Julie worked for me at the Bombay Company.  She was always happy, upbeat and had the greatest smile.
