Maria Casso Hiten, age 89 was born in Alice, Jim Wells County, Texas on December 5, 1929 to Jesus Casso and Jesusa Hinojosa, who predeceased her along with her sister, Marina Dimas. She made her transition on Monday, January 28, 2019 in Austin, Texas surrounded by many of her loved ones.
Granny was a people person. She never met a stranger. She so thoroughly loved being a waitress for over 40 years. Granny particularly enjoyed her 23 years at Chung Mei Restaurant and continued to work until age 75.
Granny will be greatly missed, “La Gran Dama” that she was, by her brother, Felipe “Pipo” Hinojosa of San Diego, daughter, Christine Nash, son, Israel and wife, Anna Ramos Segura of Corpus Christi, daughter, Elizabeth and husband Fernando Villegas of Austin and daughter, Magdalena and husband Clifford Kuykendall of Victoria and son, Rogelio and wife Maria Dimas of Benavides.
Granny’s beloved grandchildren are Elizabeth de Anda and Steven and Marina Gonzales of Austin, Carlos Gonzales and Brian Asher of San Antonio, Daniel Kuykendall of New Orleans, Julian Kuykendall of Austin, Gabriel Kuykendall of Victoria and Kristian Segura of Corpus Christi.
Great-grandchildren include Nicholas and Estevan Gonzales, Juvencio de Anda, Kailyn and Kailee Segura.

Visitation is on Friday, February 1, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Cage-Mills Funeral Directors with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. that same evening.
Funeral Service will be on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Cage-Mills Funeral Directors with a burial to follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
