Helen Jean Eiting, 85, of Redding, CA passed away on Wednesday, January 30th, 2019 at Mercy Medical Center. Better known as Jean, she was born on November 20, 1933 in Chicago, IL to the late Harry C. and Drucilla G. (Breecher) Freeland. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 35 years, Clarence "Bob" Eiting. Jean moved with her family from Chicago to Morgan Hill, CA when she was 12 years old. In 1964 she, her ex-husband, and her 3 children moved to Cottonwood from San Jose CA. She was incredibly involved in the community, always working to give back to those less fortunate. Jean married the love of her life, Bob Eiting and they were married 35 beautiful years and we're best friends until the very end. Jean's devout faith and her family were the cornerstones of her life. The lifelong friends she made at the 1st Baptist Church in Cottonwood were her comfort and support throughout her life in the Redding area and especially when her husband, Bob, passed in 2013.She is survived by her loving children: Melissa (Alisa) Montarbo; Richard Montarbo; and David (Tammy) Montarbo; and her beloved grandchildren, Jacquelyn Montarbo, Samantha Montarbo, Alexandria Montarbo, Joleen Montarbo and Cody Montarbo.
A memorial service will be held at the 1st Baptist church, 3320 Brush St, Cottonwood, CA on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 11am. Jean's ashes will be interred with her husband at the Northern California Veterans Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made to the 1st Baptist Church of Cottonwood in her memory.
