Theodore "Ted" James Smith

Theodore James “Ted” Smith, 68, of Fulton passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at the University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. He was born March 16, 1951 in Highland Park, Michigan, a son of the late Louis Arnold Smith and Edith Marion Baker Smith. On July 25, 1997, Ted was united in marriage to Joyce Roddy Bynum Smith. She survives.

In addition to his wife, Joyce other survivors include; two brothers, Bobby Smith and John (Dawn) Smith and one sister, Anita Robinson two biological children; Christopher T. Smith and Jamey Lee Smith of Michigan, his mother in-law, Erma Lee Culberson of St. Louis, MO, ten step-children; Walter Bynum Jr. (Lawanda) of Georgia, Waltten Bynum of Fulton, Walton Bynum of New York, Maria Bynum of St. Louis, Natasha Byrd (Wonnell Byrd) of St. Louis, Warren Bynum of St. Louis, Debbie Bynum of Columbia, MO, Wyond Bynum (Donna Otey Bynum) of Illinois, Walletta Bynum of Columbia, MO, Joycelyn Polk (Bryant) of St. Louis, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, aunt, uncles, cousins, sisters-in-laws and brothers in-law. His parents and one daughter, Crystal Lynn Smith, preceded Ted in death.

Ted attended Michigan public schools. He was a man of many trades being a truck driver, a Chef, and building contractor, he built many homes in the Fulton and Columbia area. He enjoyed building things. Ted was a very knowledgeable person he also had a unique personality and loved being sarcastic to others. Ted owned T & J Construction in Jefferson City for 15 years and T & J Laundromat in Columbia for many years.
