I remember Mr. and Mrs. Miller from East Bethlehem Lutheran in Detroit. I believe Mr. Miller was Principal of the School.

They were both good and faithful servants of God.

Our sincere condolence to Dot and Buds family they were such nice people and a joy to know as part of our church family Trinity Lutheran Church Cape Coral  Florida.

Aperite libros, discipules. . .  Don't know, anymore, how to spell the instruction, but I can still hear it in my head, at the beginning of each Latin class.  Conjugations, Derivations, and all the other . . . -vations.  Oh yes, and vocabulary!

Looking back at high school at this point in your life, you remember the best and the worst of your experiences.  In my case, the worst was being forced to stand on the drafting teacher's desk with my heals hanging over the edge for about 20 minutes and not being able to walk, afterwards.  The very best, on the other hand, was Mrs. Miller.  She was a special person and I think of her with fondness, often.  Certainly more so than any other teacher in my past.  She was the perfect blend between kindness,  forgiveness and high expectations.  She was at once, loved and feared and the 'feared' part was mostly a fear of disappointing her.

At any rate,  anyone who knew her was touched by her special God-given nature and was a better person for the experience.  She will be missed, but thankfully, her memory resides in my head, where it has been for the last 50 years.  Blessings to Mark and the rest of the Family with the hope for a blessed reunion one day!

Mrs. Miller was one of my favorite teachers at LHE.  She had the courage and heart to stand out among the many male teachers.  I had the honor to be one of her Latin students for 3 years and was a member of the Latin Club. Due to the excellent Latin training I received, I was able to reduce my College language requirement by half (I took additional Latin and Spanish) at the University of Michigan.  But she taught me so much more than just language-compassion, kindness, the value of hard work, and how to push through things you just don't want to do.  I graduated in 1981 and have taken her lessons with me throughout my whole life. Prayers to the family as you mourn the loss of a gracious and wonderful woman. 

This classy lady made a world of difference in my professional and personal life.  Two years of Latin at LHE (class of 1969) has helped me immensely in my legal studies, teaching career, and (dare I say) at bar trivia! She always seemed to have a smile and she inspired all to do well.  Sorry for your loss, Keith and all.

Several thoughts:

She scolded me for doing so well on the SAT, and then smiled and told me I could have done better if I had only applied myself. 

When I got into academic hot water at the Academy, my mother called her. She then called the Academic Dean at the Academy who called me into his office and told me how nice she was. Turns out they went to grammar school together.

My kids think I am a genius because I took four years of Latin in high school. I just liked reading Julius Ceasar in her classes.

She was a very special woman who made us all better!

Mrs. Miller was one of my all time favorites! She was my favorite Magistra! I enjoyed being her scribe for two years and went on to take Latin for two semesters in college because of her.  She helped me secure a  major scholarship so I could attend college ❤️
Prayers for all of you  as you celebrate her victory in Christ!

I took German at LHE, then Latin at Wayne State towards my degree in Classical Civilization in the Greek and Latin department.  Whenever professors found out I graduated from LHE they would mention her with such respect and fondness.  They had such high regard for her.  I know I missed out on a wonderful learning experience in not being one of her students but she had an influence on me .  She had such a kind and positive attitude that she made your world a better place and set a wonderful Christian example for all of us.

Mrs. Miller was a beautiful soul.  Her enthusiasm and passion for her teaching and her students was beyond compare.  I enjoyed being her Latin student and I still hope to make it to Rome someday.   She is one of the reasons that I aspired to become a teacher and I am a teacher now.   She was a gift to all of the lives she touched.  Thank you, Mrs. Miller.   Salve, Magistra!  

Mrs. Miller was one of my favorite teachers. She taught me Latin for two years at Lutheran High School East, and I still use it when I’m trying to figure out the meaning of an unfamiliar word. She was also an awesome,  caring human being. She is one of those teachers one never forgets. I can still remember where I sat in her classroom, and I graduated in 1966! Prayers for all of you!
