Donaciano (Chano) Lopez Jr.

He was born in Freeport, TX on September 20, 1934 to Bibiana Chabolla and Donaciano Lopez.

Chano retired from the city of Freeport street department after 33 years of service. He was a member of St. Henry’s Catholic Church till it’s closing, then became a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

He is survived by brother, Guillermo (Bill) Lopez of Roseville, California; niece, Mary Mendoza Garcia, husband Edward T. Garcia; niece, Lydia Lopez Garcia, husband Edward P. Garcia, Pflugerville, TX.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Bibiana and Donaciano Lopez; siblings, Felix Lopez, Miguel Lopez, Guadalupe Lopez, Herminia Lopez, Maria Harris, Manuel Lopez, and Antonio Lopez.

Left to cherish his memories is his beloved niece & nephew, Mary & Edward Garcia who opened their home that became his home for the last 4 years after the passing of his 2 sisters, Maria and Guadalupe. He was the special, caring, and funny uncle that cared and did so much for his many nieces and nephews that he leaves behind special memories to each of them. Chano loved and enjoyed visiting with his neighbors as well as his many friends that he made throughout his years at the city and after his retirement.

Pallbearers will be his nephews, Philip Lopez, Tony (Gino) Lopez, Wesley Tidwell, David Gibson, Edward Keith Garcia, and Joseph Ruiz-Lopez.

Visitation will be held at Restwood Funeral Home on Friday April 12, 2019 from 6:00pm to 7:00pm with the Rosary starting at 7:00pm.

Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Freeport, Texas on Saturday April 13, 2019 starting at 9:30am, followed by the graveside at Restwood Memorial Park.
