James was born in Columbus County, NC on the nineteenth of May 1931 to the late Willie Jackson and Edith Martilla Ward.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his first wife, Pauline Spivey Ward; a son, James Keith Ward; and two daughters, Loretta Lamberth and Debra Kay Corprew.
Survivors include his wife, Elsie Cumbee Ward; a daughter, Jeanette Ward Norris of Tabor City; a brother, Junior Ward (Nancy) of Florida; two sisters, Louise Todd of Fayetteville, NC, and Eloise Wilson of Whiteville, NC; step children, Debra Eichorn, Jeff Sibbett, Ricky Sibbett, Greg Sibbett; eighteen grandchildren; thirty great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday the eleventh of May 2019 in the White Funeral & Cremation Service, Bolivia/Supply Chapel. Interment will follow in the Chapel Hill Cemetery, Shallotte.
