William Leon Berry

He was born September 28, 1931, Fort Payne, Alabama to Earl and Mary (O'Shields) Berry, married to Bertie Willene Hunt in Dallas, Georgia, January 14, 1955. He worked at Johnson Controls until retirement and served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army from November 25, 1952 to November 24, 1954.

Preceded in death by brother, Rayford Lee Berry; parents, Mary and Earl Berry; son-in-law, Garner Burgess Williams, III.

Survived by his wife of 64 years, Bertie Willene Berry, daughters, Joni Berry Williams, Lisa Berry Hughes, and her husband, Jeff Hughes, and son William Greggory Berry; Seven grandchildren, Jake Hughes, Kyle Williams, Haley Hughes Clayton, Zack Berry, Austin Berry, Matthew Williams, and Logan Berry; eight great-grandchildren, Skylear Williams, Kadence Williams, Braylen Williams, Sophia Berry, Lilly Berry, Henley Berry, Reese Berry, Harrison Clayton; sister, Wilma Berry Foust; brother, Jimmy Wayne Berry and his wife, Cindy Berry; several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Leon was very athletic. He enjoyed softball, bowling and golf. He coached youth softball and baseball for many years. He was a member of Covered Bridge Church in Mableton, Georgia. He had a witty personality and loved his family and always encouraged you to "Be Yourself".

Funeral services will be held Saturday May 25, 2019 at 2 PM in the chapel of Georgia Memorial Park Funeral Home with Pastor Keith Bates officiating. Interment will follow in Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends between the hours of 12 until 2 PM Saturday at the funeral Home.
