Wilford Lee (Bill) Strahan

Wilford Lee (Bill) Strahan, age 97, passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at his home in Duncanville, Texas surrounded by family. He was born on December 5, 1921 to Henry Calvin Leroy Strahan and Ora Alma (Jackson) Strahan in Blue Eye, Missouri. He was the fourth of 9 children. He and Lola Mae (Gibson) Strahan married in 1946 in Hollister, Mo.

Wilford (Sarge) joined the Army in 1945, fought in WWII and retired from the Army in 1967 after 22 years of service. He also worked for the City of Duncanville as a police dispatcher and for the Dallas County Sheriff's department as a jailer and bailiff. He retired from the Dallas County Sheriff's department in 1984. After he retired, he went to the Duncanville Senior Center and played dominos with friends. He kiddingly referred to going to the center as "going to work". The family will remember Wilford by his faith in Jesus and how much he loved his family.

Wilford was greeted in Heaven by his wife Lola Mae (Gibson) Strahan; daughter Joyce (Strahan) Ackley; grandson Chris Strahan; brothers Floyd Strahan, WC Strahan; sisters Thelma (Strahan) Isaacs, Frankie (Strahan) Ramsey, Cordia (Strahan) VanWinkle, Glenna (Strahan) Works, Rosezell (Strahan) Self.

Survivors include: son and daughter-in-love, Nolan and Carole (Feagin) Strahan; daughters, Judy (Strahan) Hyman and Linda Kay Strahan; granddaughters Tonja (Hyman) and husband Eddie Quintana; and Tina Kay (Hyman) and husband Vance Lloyd; grandson and wife, Jeff and Carrie (Mills) Strahan; great-grandchildren, Amanda Hyman, Ashley Lloyd, Lauren (Lloyd) Perry, Melissa Lloyd, Jack and Luke Strahan, Eddie Hyman Jr, and Josh Quintana. Sister, Annette (Strahan) White. Also many loving nieces and nephews.
