Joan Samples Estes

Joan Samples Estes, age 77, of Marietta, Georgia, passed away on May 25, 2019. Joan was born in 1942 in Marietta, Georgia to George & Olivia Samples. For over fifty years, she was a legal secretary for Bentley, Bentley & Bentley. As the anchor of her family, she was a devoted wife, a loving mother and a doting grandmother. To those who knew her, she was the nicest person they’d ever known. In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with her husband gardening and antiquing. Some years, she sold home-grown tomatoes—more for the opportunity to talk to people and share with them rather than making a sale. If something broke she could fix it, and if it wasn’t fixable she’d find a new purpose for it.

Mrs. Estes was dearly loved by her husband of 55 years, Harold Grady Estes; her two children, Kevin (Kathy Lawson) Estes and Amy (Mike) Montanari; two grandchildren, Olivia Montanari and Grady Montanari; and a host of loving family, loved ones, and friends.

The family will receive guests for visitation on Tueday, May 28, 2019 between the hours of 6:00pm and 8:00pm at H.M. Patterson & Son – Canton Hill Chapel, in Marietta. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at 11:00am at New Providence Baptist Church, in Marietta. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
