Nelson Martin, formerly of East Hartford, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2019 at the age of 90. Born in Keegan Maine, he was the third of 15 children to the late Levite and Flavie Martin. There he met Christine Ouellette whom he married in 1949. Together they settled in East Hartford where they lived for 63 years. Nelson was a highly skilled Tool and Die Maker for Hanson Whitney, retiring after 40 years of service. He loved music playing his guitar, the spoons and a mean air harmonica. He enjoyed picking fiddleheads in the spring, telling jokes to everyone, dominos and his favorite – cribbage.
Nelson was predeceased by his loving wife of 64 years Christine Ouellette Martin, daughters Betty Jean Spencer and Nancy Lee, and grandson Matthew Spencer. He is survived by his son Steven Martin and wife Beverly of NH, daughter Sharon Szestakow and husband Will of CT, son Dean Martin and wife Sandy of AZ, 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Nelson also leaves surviving siblings Joanne Tomczuk of CT, Margarette Blazys of CT, Elmer “Jimmy” Martin of FL, Gerald Martin of FL, Jeannine Quistberg of CT, and Michael Martin of CT.

A Funeral Service will follow at 10:00AM at St. Mary’s Church 15 Maplewood Ave. East Hartford. Burial will follow at Silver Lane Cemetery, 1280 Silver Ln, East Hartford, CT.
