REMEMBERING MY SISTER
For those of you who don’t know me my name is Esther, I am sister number 3 of 8 siblings.
 Hearing the devastating news that my sister had passed away was very sad for me... Even though today such a sad event, I hope that everyone can hold his or her head high. 
 My sister would have wanted us to celebrate her life and speak about her achievements and our fond memories with a smile on our face. Let’s not dwell on our significant loss, but instead focus on paying tribute to her remarkable life.
She cared a lot for her family and friends, would do anything to help them by offering whatever she could to help ease their need. She was like a 2nd mother to us when growing up by helping my mom watching over us and would oversee the household every time my mom went to the hospital to have another baby... (I thought was too often) Elena loved to entertain, travel, party, dancing, and just have a good time. But not forgetting to mention, she also had the Lopez gene we all inherited STUBBORNESS. She loved to crochet, her specialty was making afghan’s, during a conversation she said she was thinking of making one for her great granddaughter Aliana when she got better. She also taught my daughter Jeanie how to crochet. 
Elena enjoyed cooking, I could never come close to matching her talents in the kitchen. She tried teaching me how to make tortillas in my younger years, but I did not learn. Figured if I didn’t learn I wouldn’t asked to make them. I was young and foolish, but it worked. Through the years I enjoyed her tasty meals, especially her tamales and gorditas. She made me feel special the times she made las gorditas (my favorite) at my request. (my mouth waters just thinking about it.)
I am honored that Elena was my sister and will look back on our time together with fond memories. Elena, I will always remember you and the time we spent together, family get togethers, going to hear “los Mariachi” al San Luis in Juarez, picnics by the Rio Grande, etc.
