William Victor Evans Jr.

William Victor Evans Jr., son, brother, and friend, entered eternal rest on Thursday June 6th, 2019, at the age of 35. While the sadness of his sudden departure weighs heavy, the incredible impact of his life is clear when hearing from those he loved. Victor lived and loved BIG. He was an adoring son and a devoted, over-protective big brother. He loved his family with his whole heart and enjoyed spending time with them sharing nature, good food, and lots of laughter.

Victor was also an exceptional friend, quick to make you smile or brighten up your day with his love for life, humor and kind words -- anything to bring joy to those around him. He cultivated countless close friendships that spanned decades and stretched across the globe. Victor never met a stranger and greeted everyone with a big smile and warm embrace. Many have remembered his legendary and electrifying “Evans” laugh and the luckiest among them will cherish the silly nicknames that he awarded.

Born in Jacksonville, FL, his family moved to Tybee Island, GA when he was in middle school. Many friends knew Victor from his years at St. Andrew’s School in Savannah, GA, where he played football and baseball, graduating in 2002. He held a deep, soulful love of the ocean and spent most of his free time surfing or exploring the Savannah coastline. It was during this time of life that Victor also developed a keen appreciation for the joyous power of music, making many a pilgrimage to see live music with friends.

Victor attended the University of Alabama where he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. Victor’s social network was immense -- he knew everyone and everyone knew him. He was known by his many friends as a force of life, always leaving a wake of love and laughter that lasted far after he left the room.

Victor loved travel and adventure, especially when he shared it with those he loved. Those that knew him in Key West witnessed the beautiful evolution of his passion for boating, as well as his talent for sharing natural treasures with others. He was one of a kind on the water -- a proud Master sail Captain with an “Alabama Roll-tide attitude.” Victor never missed an opportunity to cheer for his beloved Crimson Tide and he relished their victories more than most. But while he loved his school and the sea, he held no greater devotion than his true love for his family and friends.

Victor’s life was short-lived, but his legacy will carry on through those that loved him. His zest for life was palpable and he brought warmth and happiness to everyone who was lucky enough to know him. We will honor his memory by recognizing the many lives that he touched. Victor is survived by his mother; Patricia Almond, grandmother; Martha Rogers, sister; LeighAnne O’Connor (Patrick), uncles; Ed Almond, Walter Evans (Joan), aunts; Leigh Almond, Anne Mench (Chris), cousins; Candace and Andrew Maldonado-Almond, Megan Hartman (Brian), Staci Ellis, Amie Taylor (Keith) and Lee Evans. He was preceded in death by his father; William Victor Evans Sr., grandparents; Walter & Elsie Evans, Edwin Almond and William Rogers.
