She was born December 27, 1932, the daughter of the late Alfred Dudley Harris and Carrie Bell Johnson Harris. In addition to her parents, her husband, James Eldron Billings, whom she married October 21, 1952, and a brother, Herman Dudley Harris, preceded her in death.
She was a member of Cochran Street Baptist Church and attended Hebron Baptist Church. She graduated from Harmony High School. She managed Markey Fabrics for a number of years and retired from Hunt Manufacturing.
She is survived by one daughter, Marlene (Tim) McClain of Statesville, one sister, Pearl Olean Deal of Statesville; one brother, Albert Lee Harris of Harmony; two grandchildren, Corey (Whitney) McLain of Stony Point and Cody (Amanda) McLain of Statesville; six great-grandchildren, Camdyn, Myla, Kennedy, Maggie, Corbyn and Merritt; and numerous nephews and nieces.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, June 14, 2019 at New Hope Baptist Church, 4921 Harmony Hwy., Hamptonville, NC, with the Rev. Ervel Jones officiating. Family will visit with friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625 or to the Cemetery Fund at New Hope Baptist Church.
