Montez is my Aunt. Dub was my mother Carol's  brother. When I was a child we spent time with them but as we grew older the family drifted further apart by distance. When I was 12 after my mother and father divorced me and my brother David moved to Alaska with my father this was in 1975. My sisters Crystal and Evelyn stayed with our mother in Washington. I never had the chance to see Aunt Montez and Uncle Durwood again even though we did try to talk to each other by phone over the years. I remember Aunt Tez being very loving and happy, all my memories of her and my Uncle were. I talked to Aunt Tez shortly after my wife passed away in 2012. We cried together and she told me that I would be okay and that she loved me. My sister Evelyn kept in touch with her regularly and always kept me up to date on how she was doing.  The last I heard anything is shortly after she was diagnosed with cancer. Aunt Tez is the last of my family that we know about to pass on my mother's side of the family. My momma Carol died in 1992. I have never met Aunt Montez's family but please know we are very sad of her passing and loved her very much. We would love to hear from family members and hear stories from family that were around both her and Uncle Durwood. God Bless you Aunt Montez we loved you very much.

Montez was my Aunt.  I grew up calling her Auntie and always did.  Auntie was a big part of my life and the best Aunt you could ever have.  She was very loving and caring.  Her daughter, Barbara, and I grew up together and we were more like sisters than cousins.  Auntie will always hold a special place in my heart and will be greatly missed.  Even though she is no longer with us, I am so grateful she is no longer suffering.  She is in a far better place and I know I will see her again some day.  I love you Auntie!

Montez was a very special lady in my life.  She and her husband welcomed me into their lives with no strings attached.  They helped to guide me in personal and professional decisions.  I loved listening to Dub singing along with his favorite songs on the radio and the way Montez would watch him with great love.  Montez was very honest with her words and you knew she was, and it was always appreciated.  My career took me in a different direction from their lives, but I was always welcome when I could come visit.  They were friends that made me feel a part of their family.  And, what a loving family!  Montez, thank you for being my friend!  With love, Diana Lewis
