William (Bob) Robert Potter, age 84 of Burleson, passed away on July 2, 2019 at his home with his family at his side. He was born on February 14, 1935 in Perry, Oklahoma, the son of Benjamin Grimes Potter and Lucy Love Williams Potter. Bob married Charlotte Welch and they celebrated 59 years together.
Bob graduated Wichita Falls High School in 1952. He joined the US Army at the age of 24, serving in the 143rd signal battalion and received the good conduct medal and marksmanship badge. Bob joined Retta Baptist Church in 1974 where he attended and was Deacon Emeritus. In his spare time, Bob enjoyed playing and coaching baseball and softball, was an avid bowler, and loved to golf. He also served as head of first aid for the Golden Gloves for many years.
Bob is survived by his wife, Charlotte; children Randy Potter and wife Missy, Bobby Potter and wife Sally, and Julie Potter Riley and husband Brian; daughter-in-law, Susan Potter; grandchildren Scott, Karen, Stephen, Dana, Ben, Brandon, Paige, Brett, Payton, Weston, Madison, Jake, Seth, & Eli; great grandchildren Atleigh, Ethan, Channing, Grant, Karalyne, Zach, Remington, Baye, Maradyth, Parker and Paxtin; sisters Carolyn Allen and Betty Cross. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, sons Clifton Apple and Craig Potter, and brother Jim Potter.
Funeral service will be 10:00am on Friday, July 5 at Retta Baptist Church, Burleson with Pastor Ed Lowe officiating. Interment will be at 1:00pm on Friday at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
